What We Do
Older Men Unlimited (OMU) began as a community development initiative by the Hervey Bay Council to reduce social isolation of senior men deemed to be at risk of depression, dementia and suicide. OMU has become a vibrant community of older men who get together frequently for fun, friendship and companionship, with large memberships both in Maryborough and Hervey Bay.
Need to get the blood flowing? Come along and enjoy the free fresh air and great company with lots of laughs as we walk.
If you are looking for ways to pass the time with like-minded mates whilst learning to paint, this group could be for you. Lovely morning tea supplied each session. Art ability not required.
OMU members visit nursing homes throughout the region to spend time with residents, getting to know them and generally making friends. Games, fun and friendship are the order of the day.
Get together with mates for a cuppa and something to eat. These large group events happen once a month and are a definite highlight for many of our members. Guest speakers and a great chance to meet up for a chat and something to eat.
Love fishing? So do we. Come and join us on regular fishing outings and excursions around the area. We even have fishing trips away for days at a time.
BBQ's, picnics, outings and so much more.
